For the toddler, serve plain pita bread, a few pieces of halloumi, and some cucumber and bell pepper slices on the side, skipping the skewers and marinade.

Recipe

1

If using wooden skewers, soak 6 skewers in water for at least 10 minutes to prevent burning.

2

Cut halloumi into 2 cm cubes. Cut bell pepper and zucchini into 2 cm chunks. Cut red onion into wedges.

child_care Set aside a few cubes of plain halloumi and some raw bell pepper slices for the toddler.
3

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.

4

Thread halloumi, bell pepper, zucchini, onion wedges, and cherry tomatoes onto the skewers, alternating ingredients.

5

Brush the skewers with half the marinade. Reserve the remaining marinade for serving.

6

Grill the skewers over medium-high heat (about 200°C) for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until halloumi is golden and vegetables are tender with char marks.

child_care For the toddler, quickly grill a few plain halloumi cubes and vegetable chunks on a separate skewer without marinade.
7

Warm the pita bread on the grill for 1 minute per side, then cut into wedges.

8

Serve skewers with pita wedges and drizzle with the reserved marinade.

child_care Assemble the toddler's plate with pita wedges, plain grilled halloumi, and plain grilled vegetables, cut into safe pieces.
