Serve a small bowl of the stew with extra plain cooked potato on the side, and cut the sausage into small, bite-sized pieces.

Recipe

1

Soak the dried mushrooms in 200 ml of warm water for 15 minutes.

2

Peel and dice the potatoes into 2 cm cubes, dice the onion, and peel and slice the carrot.

child_care Set aside a few plain potato cubes to steam or boil separately for the child.
3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook for 3–4 minutes until lightly browned, then remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

child_care Set aside a few plain sausage slices before browning for the child's plate.
4

In the same pot, add the onion and carrot, and sauté over medium heat for 3 minutes until softened.

5

Add the sauerkraut (drained if desired), tomato paste, bay leaf, allspice berries, and the soaked mushrooms with their soaking liquid. Stir well.

child_care For a milder flavor, rinse the sauerkraut briefly before adding.
6

Add the potatoes and 200 ml of water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer covered for 25 minutes, until potatoes are tender.

7

Return the browned sausage to the pot, season with salt and pepper, and simmer uncovered for 5 more minutes to thicken slightly.

8

Remove the bay leaf and allspice berries before serving.

child_care Ensure no whole spices or large mushroom pieces remain in the child's portion.
